Health & Nutrition

Health is a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity. Nutrition is very important because it affects our health. It helps us grow, work, play, develop, think, fight diseases and to aspire higher and higher.

The old saying is: “An apple a day keeps the doctor away"? And this is completely true. It is important to eat fruit every day to keep your body healthy. Eating fruits and vegetables every day and less saturated fat can improve your health and may reduce the risk of many chronic diseases. Obesity has many severe health risks as heart attacks, severe strokes, gallstones, certain cancers and many more.

Generally, a body mass index of 30 kg/m2 is considered a significant risk factor of these complications. It is very important to stay healthy in order to function well. In today’s running world with all the stress and rush it is not such an easy job.
The best way to get all the necessary nutrients is to have a balanced diet with fruit and vegetables. Be sure to eat a variety of foods every day. Choose from each of the five food groups — milk, meat, fruit, vegetable and bread/pasta/grains (with a focus on whole grain foods) — and allow for an occasional treat.

  • Reduce saturated fat! Choose low fat foods and limit high fat meats such as hamburgers, bacon, ribbs etc.
  • Reduce Dietary Cholesterol, limit hole eggs, high-fat animal proteins!
  • Use olive oil for cooking, snack on nuts rather than chips or cookies!
  • Eat fish at least two times a week, but prepared in a healthy manner, not covered in souces!
  • Eat more high fiber foods!
  • Eat more fruit and vegetables!
  • Cut down on sugar, try to eat less salt!
  • Drink enough water!
  • Don't skip breakfast!

No food contains all the essential nutrients the body needs every day and the food balance is a very important factor for a healthy diet. We need energy to live and the balance between carbohydrate, fat and protein must be right for us to stay healthy. To achieve the right balance between the five food groups: milk, bread, fruit, vegetables and meat.

We must pay attention to what we eat and how we eat, but most of us choose a fast meal instead of a healthy low fat recipe, a soft nap instead of a little exercise and forget to listen to some good nutrition tips because we are busy paying attention to something else. So no matter how full your schedule might be, take some time and listen, the information is to you, for you and about you!
