Weight Loss Motivations Motivations is the key to losing weight holistically and staying at a healthy body weight permanently. You can easily find tens of reasons why to lose weight, some of them are less ethical than others. Obesity is strongly linked to blindness and is a strong risk factor for type 2 diabetes. It is now recognized as a major risk factor for coronary heart disease, which can lead to heart attack. It raises blood cholesterol and triglyceride (tri-GLIS'er-id) levels, lowers HDL "good" cholesterol - HDL cholesterol is linked with lower heart disease and stroke risk, so reducing it tends to raise the risk. Obesity also raises blood pressure levels and is linked to heart failure. Many people have negative reactions to overweight people. This means, it will be more difficult for you to interact with those people who already have a negative opinion of you. Many employers have a negative bias against overweight people and especially obese people because they feel that such people will cost them more money for health problems and lost productivity, consequently you will find it harder to find a job if you are overweight or obese. And last but not least: by eating less food, you will save money. If you are overweight, you probably eat twice as much food as I do, if you are obese, you probably eat 4 times as much food as I do. By eating less food, you will save time. If you are overweight, you probably take twice as much time to eat as I do, if you are obese, you probably take 4 times as much time to eat as I do. If you want to keep in shape and achieve your weight loss goal, the most important thing is to stay motivated and don't ever lose your enthusiasm. 1. Don't weigh yourself every day, because this might discourage you. Once a week is plenty, you will know whether you need to make changes to your weight loss program or not. 2. Make a photo when you start the diet plan and keep it in plain view. This way you will be reminded every day why you want to lose weight and how much better you look now. This will keep you motivated every day. 3. You have to keep in mind how you would like to look, how much weight has to go off. If you have achieved your ideal weight, don't stop! Set some new goals or standards and keep exercising, add some muscle mass. If you don't, you can easily fall back to your old bad habits. |
